Real-time serverless computing for 6G

SIXG — Serverless Infrastructure for neXt-Generation 6G networks — is developing a framework that brings serverless applications, data streaming and programmable networks together. Its goal is to help demanding services respond quickly, adapt to changing workloads and use resources efficiently across devices, the edge and the cloud.

The project combines five research pillars: elastic data streaming, a lightweight WebAssembly runtime, secure programmable infrastructure, on-demand O-RAN slicing and AI-driven cross-layer optimization.

Smart manufacturing and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) will guide the research. Three planned laboratory demonstrations will evaluate elastic AI processing, application-specific network slicing and service migration between edge nodes.
